    Useful Links Environmental Calendar 2014 Contact Us 17 Sep Brief Information on UNIDO RECP Training 2 Yerevan Armenia REC Caucasus REC Caucasus RECP team organized the second training within the frames of UNIDO Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production RECP Program which took place from 8 th to 11 th September Conference hall of UN Armenia House in Yerevan The aim of the training was to introduce the assessment evaluation and recommendations of the Demo organizations by the experts The training had module presentation 1 6 presented during the RECP introductory on 14 16 of April 2014 introducing next steps to be applied by the experts when working with the Demo organizations The training was officially launched by Ruzanna Harutyunyan from ministry of Economy as a Steering Com member the head of UNIDO Operations Ms Anahit Simonyan and UNIDO RECP National Coordinator Ms Nune Harutyunyan It was supported by the international expert Mr Nazir Abidjanov The training consisted of two parts module presentation Mr Abidjanov and expert presentations covering conducted expert assessment results in the business companies and RECP demonstration organizations At the end of each presentation there was a question answer session The modules presented by the international expert Mr Abidjanov were aimed at introducing the main objectives methodology by which the experts need to further implement the project in the Demo companies in order to achieve the expected results The companies the experts are working with are Kashi OJSC HATM Ltd Marila LLC Ashtarak Dzu LLC Lukashin Producers Cooperative Sateni Producers Cooperative Malika Ltd Unifish Ltd M Mavr OJSC and Arame Sophy Ltd based in various regions of Armenia The presentations of the experts were based on their current job being carried out in Demo organizations and their practice They presented the production process sectors where there was loss

    International Processes Useful Links Environmental Calendar 2014 Contact Us 06 Nov Caucasus Workshop Discusses NAMAs October 31 2013 The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus REC Caucasus and the German International Cooperation GIZ organized a regional workshop titled Development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions NAMAs in South Caucasus countries in cooperation with the International Climate Initiative ICI of the German Federal Environment Ministry BMU Participants discussed inter alia the development and prioritization of NAMAs in Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia The workshop was part of a capacity building series on NAMA development in the South Caucasus organized in the context of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV monitoring reporting and verification The workshop was a follow up meeting to a regional kick off meeting held in July 2013 and three national NAMA trainings in Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia Participants discussed the outcomes of the capacity building series including increased clarity on what can be included in a NAMA the need for regional exchange on issues such as technology and sector expertise and financing NAMAs the prioritization of NAMAs based on multi criteria analysis MCA including greenhouse gas GHG reduction potential and financial feasibility and cooperation opportunities within the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV The workshop which was held on October 24 25 2013 in Tbilisi Georgia brought together representatives from the governments and ministries of the three countries the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC Focal Points international organizations and civil society organizations A summary report of the meeting will be released in December 2013 The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV was launched within the framework of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in May 2010 in Bonn Germany by South Africa South Korea and Germany The aim of the Partnership is to support a practical exchange on mitigation

    German Federal Environment Ministry BMU It constitutes the third element of a capacity building series on NAMA development in the region following a first regional kick off meeting in July 2013 and three national NAMA Trainings in Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia The workshop was attended by the high level representatives of responsible ministries Ministries of Environment Energy Economy Finance andAgriculture from the three South Caucasus countries such as international organizations donorsand other concerned The meeting was opened by Mr Shalva Amirejibi Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Ms Katharina Derkorn Head of Development Cooperation German Embassy Tbilisi Mr Martin Homola GIZ Country Director and Nune Harutyunyan RECC Executive Director Aprox 30 decision makers including UNFCCC focal points participated in the meeting Objectives of the workshop were To share results of the regional capacity building project and outcomes of the national NAMA Trainings in Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia To exchange the recent state of art of low carbon planning and mitigation action in the three South Caucasus countries as a follow up to the regional workshop in July 2013 To identify common challenges and next steps within the process of NAMA prioritization and development in the three countries During the meeting the representatives of Ministries and UNFCCC focal points presented the state of the art of NAMA development in the three South Caucasus countries The results achieved so far within the capacity building project were presented by REC Caucasus and future cooperation opportunities within the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV were discussed Along the two workshop days participants worked with multi criteria exercises on the prioritization of different NAMA ideas and initiatives exchanged their points of view and identified challenges along this process The atmosphere of mutual understanding was highlighted by the participants such as the
